This course focuses on the concepts, strategies and methodologies for preserving, managing and long-term archiving of electronic/digital records and information. Additionally, the course will provide an overview of the challenges involved with preserving digital/electronic information as archival records and examines the options for establishing strategies for their management and preservation over time.

Upon the competition of this course, participants will be able to:
- Clearly define what digital preservation of records is and understand the importance of effectively managing digital assets over time.
- Explain the various types of digital record preservation.
- Develop and implement a digital record preservation strategy.
- Implement an appropriate digital asset migration plan.
- Develop and implement an effective digital record program, including implementation of policies and governance protocols.
- Effectively plan, implement, audit and manage a long-term digital asset preservation program

This two-day course is presented as a workshop presentation with learning exercises and adequate time for interactive discussion and questions. There will be a thirty minute discussion period at the end of the session in which participants and the facilitator can exchange experiences and ideas.
